National Emergency Management Authority
NEMA, Musa Illamah, most of the victims of the
Central Mosque Kano bomb blast that
happened on Friday Nov 28th are in dire of

they need most is blood and consumables.
I spoke with the officials of the Federal
Ministry of Health and and they have
assured me that they would mobilize
blood bank in Katsina to supply blood to
the hospital" he told newsmen
Residents in Kano have been trooping to the
various hospitals where the victims are being
treated to donate blood.

B’Haram kills 48 fish vendors

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed 48 fish
vendors after setting up a roadblock near the
country’s border with Chad, the head of the
fish traders association told the Agence France-
Presse on Sunday.
“Scores of Boko Haram fighters blocked a route
linking Nigeria with Chad near the fishing village
of Doron Baga on the shores of Lake Chad on
Thursday and killed a group of 48 fish traders
on their way to Chad to buy fish,” AFP quoted
Abubakar Gamandi, head of the fish traders
association, as saying.
Gamandi said the attackers set up a barricade
at Dogon Fili, 15 kilometres from Doron Baga in
Borno State, and stopped a convoy of fish
vendors around midday, slaughtering some of
them and drowning others in the lake.
“The Boko Haram gunmen slit the throats of
some of the men and tied the hands and legs
of the others before throwing them into the
lake to drown,” Gamandi told AFP by telephone
from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
It was unclear if the motive for the gruesome
attack was robbery or if there were other
reasons for the killings.
Boko Haram has once in a while targeted
residents seemingly indiscriminately in its
deadly insurgency.
Doron Baga, 180 kilometres from Maiduguri, is
the base of the Multi-National Joint Task Force,
comprising troops from Nigeria, Chad and Niger
fighting the Islamist group.
The MNJTF was formed in 1998 to fight trans-
border crime but its mandate was expanded as
part of efforts to tame the Boko Haram
insurgency in the restive region.
Gamandi claimed the assailants killed all of
their victims without using their guns.
“The attackers killed their victims silently
without the use of the gun to avoid attracting
attention from the multi-national troops,” he
said.
Kaloma Zarami, a fish vendor in Maiduguri, said
he learned of the killings from other traders in
Doron Baga.
Zarami said, “The news came to us late
yesterday (Saturday) through some of our
colleagues who came from Doron Baga to
inform us of the incident because there is no
telephone service in the area.
“We lost 48 people in the attack. Some were
slaughtered and others were thrown into Lake
Chad with their hands and legs tied and left to
drown.”
A military officer in Maiduguri confirmed the
attack but said details were sketchy.
“We heard of the attack near Doron Baga but
we don’t have any details because the area
falls under the operational jurisdiction of the
MNJTF,” the military officer said.
News of the attack was slow to emerge due to
the destruction of mobile phone towers in the
area by Boko Haram in previous attacks.
Incessant Boko Haram attacks have disrupted
fishing and farming along the shores of Lake
Chad. Fishermen from Doron Baga have been
forced to abandon fishing and have turned to
importing dried fish from neighbouring Chad.
Gamandi said the Dogon Fili route provided the
safest passage for traders from Doron Baga to
Chad as other routes are infested with Boko
Haram gunmen who rob and kill travellers.

Bombs uncovered on Egypt railway tracks

A charred body has been found near a train
station in southern Egypt after a bomb
exploded, as police uncovered three
unexploded devices planted on railway tracks in
the region.
The blast took place on Saturday night in the
town of Al-Wasta, in the province of Beni Suef,
south of Cairo. The interior ministry said in a
statement that the body probably belonged to
the person who had planted the bomb.
The unexploded bombs were found on railway
lines linking Cairo to the far southern city of
Aswan, the ministry said.
Egypt has been hit by a wave of bombings and
shootings since the military ousted President
Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
Assailants have stepped up attacks targeting
public transport, including a bomb last week on
a train north of Cairo that killed two policemen
and two passengers.
On Thursday, four people were hurt in a
stampede at the capital’s Ramses station after
a blast inside a compartment of a train that
pulled in from the Nile Delta, security officials
said. The blast was caused by a sound bomb,
they said.

Jonathan to Obasanjo: I’m Nigeria’s best leader

President Goodluck Jonathan has described
himself as the best leader to be produced by
Nigeria.
The President said no leader since the country
gained independence in 1960 had done better
than himself for the country.
He, therefore, said the comment made by
former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in which
the ex-President described Jonathan’s
performance as below average, was untrue.
Jonathan said this in a statement by his Special
Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, in
Abuja on Sunday.
Okupe’s statement read, “Our attention has
been drawn to comments made by a former
President of this country, Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo, regarding the performance of the
administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Obasanjo had at an event over the weekend
declared that he rated the President Goodluck
Jonathan administration ‘below average’.
“We aver that Obasanjo’s comments are
untrue, misleading and clearly do not tally with
the facts on the ground.
“We therefore wish to assert without
equivocation that in terms of performance and
achievements, no administration since 1960
when Nigeria gained independence from
Britain, has done as much as that of President
Jonathan.”
He said that every discerning and unbiased
Nigerian would definitely attest to this “as the
evidence stare all of us in the face.”
Okupe, who had also worked with the former
President while in office, added that contrary to
Obasanjo’s position, the Federal Government
under Jonathan had performed excellently
given the prevailing circumstances and
resources available to it.
He said while it was true that Nigeria had been
faced with incidents of insurgency and
terrorism, especially in the last few years, the
Jonathan administration had successfully
contained the initial widespread activities of the
insurgents, which he said were prevalent in 12
states of the North, including the Federal
Capital Territory.
He added, “While it is true that the present
activities of the terrorists in the three north-
eastern states have become more deadly in
mindless killings, kidnappings and supposed
territorial seizures, government has made giant
diplomatic strides with our neighbouring
countries in order to checkmate the
crisscrossing of the insurgents.
“The military and other security agents, which
have engaged the insurgents since inception,
have done a great job in spite of recent
challenges.
“The truth of the matter which we must know
and accept is that we have an internal enemy
supported by internal and external resources
waging a major warfare against our nation.”

FFK calls Governor Amaechi pot bellied, house boy, monkey and cultist

In a post titled The Pot-bellied Creek Haramite
And His Direct Threat, which he posted on
Facebook, former Aviation minister Femi Fani
Kayode slammed River State governor, Rotimi
Amaechi, calling him a cultist, house boy and
monkey. These our leaders have no chill
sha..lol. What he wrote below..
''If the PDP rig the election in 2015 we will
not go to court and we will make the
country ungovernable. We will form a
parallel government and there will be
anarchy''- Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
It is time for the President to take off the
kid gloves and put this pot-bellied little
monkey in his place. Once a houseboy,
always a houseboy. Once a cult member
always a cult member. Once a peasant,
always a peasant.
But why are our leaders saying stuff like this?
That there will be anarchy in this country?
Continue...
If Rotimi and his Haramite friends are
looking for trouble then we should give it
to them in full measure. It would be a
pleasure. Anytime a cockroach shows it's
head it ought to be crushed.
Treason is a very serious business and the
brazen attempt to incite others to destroy
our country, make it ungovernable and kill
our people is even more serious. Have
they and their Haramite army and secret
military wing not killed enough people
already in the last 3 years?
Whichever way they wish to play it and
whatever they want to do we are ready
for them this time. It will not be a one
way slaughter anymore. If they kill our
people after they lose in 2015 there will
be swift, decisive and severe
consequences.
Let this young man Rotimi and those that
are using him prepare himself for the
consequences of their madness. In 2010
they told the world that they would make
Nigeria ''ungovernable'' if they lost the
2011 election and since then Nigeria has
not known peace. Now they are saying it
again. This time around our reaction will
not be passive.
The only way you can fight madness is
with an equal measure of madness. The
only way you can defeat a bully is by
mustering the resolve to face him down.
The only way you can defeat a terrorist
who delights in shedding blood is to visit
him with a much higher level of violence
and terror.
They will not kill our people and get away
with it anymore. From now on it will be
blood for blood. It will be an eye for an
eye and it will be a tooth for a tooth. May
God help us all.

Defence HQ discredits all stories of liberation of towns by some hunters

The Nigeria military just released a statement
discrediting all those stories you've read about
hunters and local vigilantes helping to liberate
towns captured by Boko Haram in the North
East. They are basically saying they are the
ones who did it...with some help of course. I
believe them. Find their statement after the
cut...
Misrepresenting the involvement of hunters
in the counter-terrorism operations
All the flimsy and exaggerated claims of
hunters’ exploits in the ongoing operations are
simply intended to foster a mischievous
campaign aimed at disparaging and
depreciating the professional efforts of the
Nigerian military at containing the terrorists
especially in Adamawa.
It is obvious that the intention is to ridicule and
discourage the military. We are not moved.
While appreciating the effort of the hunters and
citizens who have been supporting our troops
in the onslaught, the military still remains in
the vanguard of the mission to rid the nation of
terrorists and their activities.
We will remain focused and utilize only well-
meaning support and advice in the ongoing
campaign to wipe out terrorists. Much as we
are aware of the politicians who are promoting
the campaign for whatever reasons, we will not
be distracted by their antics.
The result of present efforts will soon manifest
for the whole world to see and Nigerians and
their military will not be diminished, as
intended by those engaging in the campaign of
calumny against the Nigerian military We
however caution Nigerians not to allow
themselves to be hoodwinked into danger by
some false reports on so called liberation of
certain areas by ‘hunters’ as we can only vouch
for areas where the military has reported
cleared of terrorists.

President Obama to grant legal status to 4.5m illegal US immigrants

Yesterday, President Obama made a
blockbuster announcement on immigration that
got a lot of Americans divided. In his new plan,
about 4.5 illegal immigrants in the US will now
be able to get legal status and allowed to apply
for work permits. This applies to only those
who have no criminal records, have been in the
US illegally for at least 5 years and are willing to
pay their outstanding tax. The Republicans are
angry though and call it "lawless amnesty". They
believe it will encourage more people to arrive
the US unlawfully.
"The action by the president yesterday will
only encourage more people to come here
illegally. It also punishes those who have
obeyed the law and waited their turn."
Republican Speaker of the House said
today
But fortunately for Obama, he doesn't need
the permission of congress to do this. It's
called executive action - where a president can
bypass the legislature, which he has done.
Continue...
There are about 11 million undocumented
immigrants in the US now and President Obama
believes that a mass deportation of these
people “would be both impossible and contrary
to our character.”
He made the controversial announcement in an
address from the White House yesterday Nov
20th You can read his full speech (It's quite a
long one) culled from CNN, after the cut...
My fellow Americans, tonight, I'd like to
talk with you about immigration.
For more than 200 years, our tradition of
welcoming immigrants from around the
world has given us a tremendous
advantage over other nations. It's kept us
youthful, dynamic, and entrepreneurial. It
has shaped our character as a people with
limitless possibilities -- people not trapped
by our past, but able to remake ourselves
as we choose.
But today, our immigration system is
broken, and everybody knows it.
Families who enter our country the right
way and play by the rules watch others
flout the rules. Business owners who offer
their workers good wages and benefits see
the competition exploit undocumented
immigrants by paying them far less. All of
us take offense to anyone who reaps the
rewards of living in America without taking
on the responsibilities of living in America.
And undocumented immigrants who
desperately want to embrace those
responsibilities see little option but to
remain in the shadows, or risk their
families being torn apart.
It's been this way for decades. And for
decades, we haven't done much about it.
When I took office, I committed to fixing
this broken immigration system. And I
began by doing what I could to secure our
borders. Today, we have more agents and
technology deployed to secure our
southern border than at any time in our
history. And over the past six years, illegal
border crossings have been cut by more
than half. Although this summer, there
was a brief spike in unaccompanied
children being apprehended at our
border, the number of such children is
now actually lower than it's been in nearly
two years. Overall, the number of people
trying to cross our border illegally is at its
lowest level since the 1970s. Those are the
facts.
Meanwhile, I worked with Congress on a
comprehensive fix, and last year, 68
Democrats, Republicans, and
Independents came together to pass a
bipartisan bill in the Senate. It wasn't
perfect. It was a compromise, but it
reflected common sense. It would have
doubled the number of border patrol
agents, while giving undocumented
immigrants a pathway to citizenship if they
paid a fine, started paying their taxes, and
went to the back of the line. And
independent experts said that it would
help grow our economy and shrink our
deficits.
Had the House of Representatives allowed
that kind of a bill a simple yes-or-no vote,
it would have passed with support from
both parties, and today it would be the
law. But for a year and a half now,
Republican leaders in the House have
refused to allow that simple vote.
Now, I continue to believe that the best
way to solve this problem is by working
together to pass that kind of common
sense law. But until that happens, there
are actions I have the legal authority to
take as President -- the same kinds of
actions taken by Democratic and
Republican Presidents before me -- that
will help make our immigration system
more fair and more just.
Tonight, I am announcing those actions.
First, we'll build on our progress at the
border with additional resources for our
law enforcement personnel so that they
can stem the flow of illegal crossings, and
speed the return of those who do cross
over.
Second, I will make it easier and faster for
high-skilled immigrants, graduates, and
entrepreneurs to stay and contribute to
our economy, as so many business leaders
have proposed.
Third, we'll take steps to deal responsibly
with the millions of undocumented
immigrants who already live in our
country.
I want to say more about this third issue,
because it generates the most passion and
controversy. Even as we are a nation of
immigrants, we are also a nation of laws.
Undocumented workers broke our
immigration laws, and I believe that they
must be held accountable -- especially
those who may be dangerous. That's why,
over the past six years, deportations of
criminals are up 80 percent. And that's
why we're going to keep focusing
enforcement resources on actual threats
to our security. Felons, not families.
Criminals, not children. Gang members,
not a mother who's working hard to
provide for her kids. We'll prioritize, just
like law enforcement does every day.
But even as we focus on deporting
criminals, the fact is, millions of
immigrants -- in every state, of every race
and nationality -- will still live here
illegally. And let's be honest -- tracking
down, rounding up, and deporting millions
of people isn't realistic. Anyone who
suggests otherwise isn't being straight
with you. It's also not who we are as
Americans. After all, most of these
immigrants have been here a long time.
They work hard, often in tough, low-
paying jobs. They support their families.
They worship at our churches. Many of
their kids are American-born or spent
most of their lives here, and their hopes,
dreams, and patriotism are just like ours.
As my predecessor, President Bush, once
put it: "They are a part of American life."
Now here's the thing: we expect people
who live in this country to play by the
rules. We expect that those who cut the
line will not be unfairly rewarded. So
we're going to offer the following deal: If
you've been in America for more than five
years; if you have children who are
American citizens or legal residents; if you
register, pass a criminal background check,
and you're willing to pay your fair share of
taxes -- you'll be able to apply to stay in
this country temporarily, without fear of
deportation. You can come out of the
shadows and get right with the law.
That's what this deal is. Now let's be clear
about what it isn't. This deal does not
apply to anyone who has come to this
country recently. It does not apply to
anyone who might come to America
illegally in the future. It does not grant
citizenship, or the right to stay here
permanently, or offer the same benefits
that citizens receive -- only Congress can
do that. All we're saying is we're not going
to deport you.
I know some of the critics of this action
call it amnesty. Well, it's not. Amnesty is
the immigration system we have today --
millions of people who live here without
paying their taxes or playing by the rules,
while politicians use the issue to scare
people and whip up votes at election time.
That's the real amnesty -- leaving this
broken system the way it is. Mass amnesty
would be unfair. Mass deportation would
be both impossible and contrary to our
character. What I'm describing is
accountability -- a commonsense, middle
ground approach: If you meet the criteria,
you can come out of the shadows and get
right with the law. If you're a criminal,
you'll be deported. If you plan to enter
the U.S. illegally, your chances of getting
caught and sent back just went up.
The actions I'm taking are not only lawful,
they're the kinds of actions taken by every
single Republican President and every
single Democratic President for the past
half century. And to those Members of
Congress who question my authority to
make our immigration system work better,
or question the wisdom of me acting
where Congress has failed, I have one
answer: Pass a bill. I want to work with
both parties to pass a more permanent
legislative solution. And the day I sign that
bill into law, the actions I take will no
longer be necessary. Meanwhile, don't let
a disagreement over a single issue be a
dealbreaker on every issue. That's not
how our democracy works, and Congress
certainly shouldn't shut down our
government again just because we
disagree on this. Americans are tired of
gridlock. What our country needs from us
right now is a common purpose -- a higher
purpose.
Most Americans support the types of
reforms I've talked about tonight. But I
understand the disagreements held by
many of you at home. Millions of us,
myself included, go back generations in
this country, with ancestors who put in
the painstaking work to become citizens.
So we don't like the notion that anyone
might get a free pass to American
citizenship. I know that some worry
immigration will change the very fabric of
who we are, or take our jobs, or stick it to
middle-class families at a time when they
already feel like they've gotten the raw
end of the deal for over a decade. I hear
these concerns. But that's not what these
steps would do. Our history and the facts
show that immigrants are a net plus for
our economy and our society. And I
believe it's important that all of us have
this debate without impugning each
other's character.
Because for all the back-and-forth of
Washington, we have to remember that
this debate is about something bigger. It's
about who we are as a country, and who
we want to be for future generations.
Are we a nation that tolerates the
hypocrisy of a system where workers who
pick our fruit and make our beds never
have a chance to get right with the law?
Or are we a nation that gives them a
chance to make amends, take
responsibility, and give their kids a better
future?
Are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of
ripping children from their parents' arms?
Or are we a nation that values families,
and works to keep them together?
Are we a nation that educates the world's
best and brightest in our universities, only
to send them home to create businesses
in countries that compete against us? Or
are we a nation that encourages them to
stay and create jobs, businesses, and
industries right here in America?
That's what this debate is all about. We
need more than politics as usual when it
comes to immigration; we need reasoned,
thoughtful, compassionate debate that
focuses on our hopes, not our fears.
I know the politics of this issue are tough.
But let me tell you why I have come to
feel so strongly about it. Over the past
few years, I have seen the determination
of immigrant fathers who worked two or
three jobs, without taking a dime from the
government, and at risk at any moment of
losing it all, just to build a better life for
their kids. I've seen the heartbreak and
anxiety of children whose mothers might
be taken away from them just because
they didn't have the right papers. I've
seen the courage of students who, except
for the circumstances of their birth, are as
American as Malia or Sasha; students who
bravely come out as undocumented in
hopes they could make a difference in a
country they love. These people -- our
neighbors, our classmates, our friends --
they did not come here in search of a free
ride or an easy life. They came to work,
and study, and serve in our military, and
above all, contribute to America's success.
Tomorrow, I'll travel to Las Vegas and
meet with some of these students,
including a young woman named Astrid
Silva. Astrid was brought to America when
she was four years old. Her only
possessions were a cross, her doll, and the
frilly dress she had on. When she started
school, she didn't speak any English. She
caught up to the other kids by reading
newspapers and watching PBS, and
became a good student. Her father worked
in landscaping. Her mother cleaned other
people's homes. They wouldn't let Astrid
apply to a technology magnet school for
fear the paperwork would out her as an
undocumented immigrant -- so she
applied behind their back and got in. Still,
she mostly lived in the shadows -- until
her grandmother, who visited every year
from Mexico, passed away, and she
couldn't travel to the funeral without risk
of being found out and deported. It was
around that time she decided to begin
advocating for herself and others like her,
and today, Astrid Silva is a college student
working on her third degree.
Are we a nation that kicks out a striving,
hopeful immigrant like Astrid -- or are we
a nation that finds a way to welcome her
in?
Scripture tells us that we shall not oppress
a stranger, for we know the heart of a
stranger -- we were strangers once, too.
My fellow Americans, we are and always
will be a nation of immigrants. We were
strangers once, too. And whether our
forebears were strangers who crossed the
Atlantic, or the Pacific, or the Rio Grande,
we are here only because this country
welcomed them in, and taught them that
to be an American is about something
more than what we look like, or what our
last names are, or how we worship. What
makes us Americans is our shared
commitment to an ideal -- that all of us
are created equal, and all of us have the
chance to make of our lives what we will.
That's the country our parents and
grandparents and generations before them
built for us. That's the tradition we must
uphold. That's the legacy we must leave
for those who are yet to come.
Thank you, God bless you, and God bless
this country we love.

I am ready for police invitation- Aminu Tambuwal

There were reports yesterday that the
Inspector General of Police was making plans to
'arrest' the speaker of the House of
Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, over
Thursday's drama at the National Assembly.
The speaker, in a statement released by his
media adviser, Imam Dalhatu, says he's ready
for any invitation by the police. Find his
statement below...
The attention of the Hon Speaker, House
of Representatives, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri
Tambuwal CFR, has been drawn to
publications in the media to the effect
that the Inspector General of Police has
ordered that he, Speaker, be invited to
the Force Headquarters and that he be
arrested if he resisted.
The Honorable Speaker wishes to state that he
is a law abiding citizen of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria who has no immunity against arrest
and prosecution except privileges as may be
provided by the Legislative Powers and
Privileges Act.
Accordingly , the Hon Speaker states for the
records that he is available, ready and willing
to answer any lawful invitation from any of the
Security agencies on any matter for which they
may require his attention.
The Speaker expresses dismay at the
unprofessional conduct of the Nigerian Police in
the attempt to stop him from accessing the
House of Representatives chambers on the
20th November 2014 to preside over the
Special Session of the House on the State of
Emergency Extension requested by Mr
President, for which he had recalled members
from their working recess.
Most disgraceful is the false statement later
issued by the Police in which they claimed that
in the lawful exercise of their duties “ Alh
Aminu Tambuwal CFR, arrived the venue with a
motley crowd, who broke the cordon, assaulted
the Police and evaded due process”. This
blatant falsehood coming from a law
enforcement agency, that is expected to be
neutral and lawful, is unfortunate, to say the
least.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Hon Speaker
came to National Assembly accompanied by
Hon Members as is customary during any
sitting of the House. They all came with their
official vehicles but were disallowed from
driving into the premises. Certainly Hon
Members, who arrived the precinct of the
National Assembly in response to a call to
perform an urgent, critical national assignment,
cannot be described by any self respecting
institution as “a motley crowd"
It is important to remind the Nigeria Police
Force that as a public institution that provides
common services for all the arms of
government, they must not allow themselves to
be used by one of the arms to undermine the
others.

T.B Joshua asks court to stop coroner inquest investigating his church building collapse

The founder of the Synagogue Church of All
Nations, Prophet T.B. Joshua yesterday asked
the Lagos state High Court in Ikeja to stop
proceedings of the coroner inquest set up by
the Lagos state govt to look into the
circumstances that led to his church's building
collapse on Sept. 12th which killed 116.
T.B Joshua, who filed the appeal through his
counsel, Olalekan, Ojo, also asked the court to
declare that his invitation to appear as a
witness before the coroner was a breach of his
right to fair hearing, as no case had been
established against him before the coroner.
T.B Joshua who was supposed to appear before
the coroner yesterday, through his counsel,
asked the coroner to suspend proceedings
pending the outcome of the case he just filed
against it which is to be called up for hearing
on December 3rd.
The coroner, Magistrate O.A. Komolafe however
declined his request saying no one had served
him court document to that effect.

Popularly OAP and relationship coach Chaz B passes away

Popular radio host, relationship coach and
anchor of 'Sharing Life Issues' with Chaz B on
Rhythm FM, Charles Bruce, aka Chaz B, has
died. He died this morning November 22nd
from kidney failure which he'd been battling

Two Men In Lagos Have BeenArrested With 50 Litres OfFresh Man Blood

Policemen attached to the
Imota Police Station
inIkorodu Local Government
Area of Lagos State,
were shocked to the bone
marrow when the
contents of two 25-litre jerry-
cans they found in
the possession of two men
they arrested, turned
out to behuman blood.
The arrested men identified as
Alfa Balogun
Tajudeen Ogunsanya, who
hails from Gberigbe
community in Ikorodu, and an
unidentified
stranger who residents were
not able to identify,
were arrested in the early
hours of yesterday
trying to sneak away with the
containers which
police initially suspected to be
stolen petroleum
product since the area has an
high occurrence of
pipeline vandalization, but
they were
dumbfounded when they
turned out to be fresh
human blood.
One of the residents of
Gberigbe, who gave his
name as Amos Oludero,
narrated how the men
were arrested br /> We identified one of the
men
as a native of this
town but the other man is
strange to us. They
wanted to alight from a car
near the town hall
opposite Fezbam filling station,
each of them
with a 25-litre jerrycan. While
Ogusanya came
down first, the cover of the
jerrycan being
carried by the second man
opened and blood
spilled on the ground.
Oludero said this attracted the
attention of other
residents and passers-by who
came together and
discovered the kegs were full
of blood.
He added that they were
immediately arrested
and taken to Imota Police
Station by policemen.
However, another resident
said that it might be a
move by Ogunsanya to
incriminate another
family over a land dispute.
This was attempted in the past
in a case of land
dispute. The appeal court ruled
in favour of
Orelabi family on the disputed
mass of land in
Gberigbe. The Alfa arrested
yesterday is from
Ogunsanya family. He might be
going to keep the
cans in the compound of the
other family and
later call the police to arrest
members of that
family.
Meanwhile, the police said the
men had been
transferred to the State
Criminal Investigation
Department, (SCID), Panti, for
further
investigation.

Introducing Twenty ThoughtProvoking Inspirational message

Introducing Twenty Thought
Provoking Inspirational
Messages
Get inspired by these messages
put together for your maximum
motivation. In life at times, we
need to look somewhere where
we can find source of
information that can put us on
the right part in life, or rather
information that will make us to
re-examine our life, because we
can never know everything
until we come across some
information and learn from
them. That is why all these
twenty messages are packaged
for you so that you can be
motivated, inspired and be
happy about the kind of life
you’re living.
Here are the inspirational
messages for you br /> I cried because I
don’t have
a shoe until I saw a man
without a feet. Sometimes,
we’re just too blind to
appreciate the things which
surround us.
When life seems so tough,
go on. When things go
wrong, move on. Bear in
mind that God gives you
strength to persevere, not
to surrender. Take care!
Wake up! Exercise your
faith. Do sit-up with prayer.
Do push-up to release
stress. Go! Jog to the Lord
and send the good news!
Don’t think too much of the
problems in life, they are
just test papers given by
God to see how much we
are learning in His subject
called “Life”. If you think
you failed, don’t worry
because He is always ready
to give remedial classes. So,
review through prayers and
have the perfect score of
“Happiness”.
Treat everyone with
politeness, even those who
are rude to you, not
because they are not nice,
but because you are nice
Before you sleep, just gently
lay every troubled thought
away. Drop your burden
and your care in the quiet
arms of prayer because God
never sleeps. Good night!
Sweet dreams.
We are like pencils, the best
part in us is inside, we make
marks as we touch other’s
lives. when we make
mistakes, we can erase and
we become better as we are
sharpened.
Prayer is a perfume to our
soul and a fragrance that
pleases God. Wear your
prayer everyday and let it
freshen you anytime,
anywhere you go. Have a
blessed and sweet-scented
day!
The more silently love is
expressed, the more it is
deeply bound to impress.
No wonder God loves us in
silence and gives us the
miracles of having friends.
Life is a continuous
challenge, a constant
struggle from womb to
tomb. We are not made rich
by what is in our pockets,
but by what is in our hearts.
Sometimes, we are in love in
the idea of falling in love.
Loving the illusion of
having or missing someone.
It’s alright to feel happy
thru other people, but don’t
get dependent on achieving
happiness by being with
someone. Love yourself
first before sharing your
life with somebody,
because if you don’t, you
will always look for people
that you think can make
you complete. And in the
end, it will make you lose
yourself more, bit by bit,
piece by piece.
Forget the things that made
you sad and remember
those that made you glad.
Forget the troubles that
passed away and remember
the blessings that come
each day.
Have you ever experienced
a time in your life when you
felt so empty for no reason?
Have you ever felt so down
but you just can’t tell why?
Have you ever felt like the
world suddenly spins
around you, and you are
caught in the middle going
nowhere? Weird, isn’t it? But
that’s the beauty of being
human… it is knowing that
there is a purpose for each
existence, and whatever
that may be, it is also the
reason why we still wake
up breathing each morning,
to discover that missing
piece of puzzle that would
make our lives complete.
Obstacles don’t have to stop
you. If you run into a wall,
don’t turn around and give
up. Figure out how to climb
it, go through it or work
around it.
Some won’t appreciate what
you say or do, but as long
as you speak honestly from
the heart, you’ll be fine. This
is not a perfect world. This
is not a perfect life. But life
loves the person who dares
to live it by being real.
Sometimes in life, we tend
to run so fast that we don’t
notice God running with us.
We only notice Him when
we fall, yet He stops, carries
us and says, “Finish the race
my child.”
Always remember that God
only makes happy endings.
If it’s not happy, then, it’s
not yet the end. Live by love
and hope, there is always
something to look forward
to. God bless.
Put God on top of
everything today and let
Him take charge of all your
plans. Then you’ll see how
beautiful His ways are and
His unending love.
People continue to get their
goals in spite of pain, tears,
heartbreaks, because pain
made them strong, tears
made them brave,
heartbreak made them wise.
If you want to know how
much God loves you, try to
catch every single raindrop.
The ones you catch is how
much you love God and the
ones you miss is how much
God loves you.

buy a book and read, do so.
If you need to attend
seminars, attend it. If you
need to follow a blog or

surprise you that many
people registered for

the possible businesses they
can do. As a result, they do
not submit their business

3. Good Idea But No
Market Need
Many people do not
scrutinize their ideas before

The question is how many
people will patronize your

market need this idea or
simply, do you think there is
a market for your idea?
People do not do their
market research well.

FG introduces austerity measures as drop in oil price in int'l market poses threat to Nigerian economy

Following the continued drop in oil price in
international market, the Federal government
yesterday announced the introduction of some
austerity measures such as tax introduction on
luxury goods such as champagne, jets, amongst
other, to be implemented to reduce the effect
of the continued oil price decline on the
Nigerian economy as Nigeria is largely an oil
dependent economy.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday
November 16th, Minister of Finance and
Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi
Okonjo Iweala, said as part of measures to
cushion the hardship that is to come due to the
continued drop of oil price in the international
market, government would henceforth collect
“tax on luxurious goods,” and that this was part
of measures aimed at increasing revenue from
non-oil sectors.
"We all know the definition of luxury
goods, we are still compiling the lists and
one of the things we can tax is
champagne, alcoholic beverages, jets,
luxury cars- we will look at the engine
capacity, and yachts. We are putting the
list together but we intend to do a
surcharge going forward on these items.
The principle is that those who are better
off in the society and I hope they won’t
mind will be willing to share a bit more in
remitting a little bit more to the treasury
than what they normally do on these
things.” she said
She revealed that another austerity measure
being put in place by the government is the
reduction of international travel within the
public service
“We are not talking about (cutting) salaries
and benefits. We are talking of trainings
and travels and these will be only for
critical and essential items which will be
pre-approved by the Head of Service and
the Director-General of the Budget Office
and then if someone invites you for
overseas course, you can go provided they
pay for your training and your stay and
you have to furnish evidence that they are
paying before you will be allowed. The
purpose of this is to tell you what we are
doing and this team is calm and will be
effective and we are working with the
monetary policy authorities and together
we will manage the economy in a
transparent manner so that people need
not have any fear.” she said
The Minister said that after studying the trend
in the drop of oil price in the international
market, the economic team approved a $5 per
barrel reduction in the 2015 budget benchmark
price for oil from $78 to $73 per barrel.
“As part of the response, the Medium
Term Expenditure Framework and the
Budget 2015 proposal to the National
Assembly have been revised. Government
is now proposing a benchmark of $73
dollars per barrel to the National
Assembly compared to the earlier
proposed benchmark of $78. Given the
nature of the oil market, we needed to
see the extent and trend of the oil price
in order to take the right measures. Panic
is not a strategy. It’s important that our
strategies are based on facts and a clear
understanding of both the strengths of
the economy and the challenges posed by
the drop in oil prices which is currently at
$79 for our premium Bonny Light Crude.
The drop in oil prices is a serious challenge
which we must confront as a country. We
must be prepared to make sacrifices
where necessary".
On the advise from some scholars to print
more Naira notes so as to reduce the effect of
the oil price drop on Nigerians, the Minister
said such an action if implemented would be
disastrous to the nation as it would increase
the inflation rate of the economy
"Printing money without adequate revenue
support will lead to serious consequences
for the country. It will spur inflation as the
experiences of Germany in the early part
of the last century and more recently,
Argentina and Zimbabwe demonstrate.
This prescription will victimise the poor
and the middle class that it is supposedly
protecting.” she said
She said one of the best ways of managing the
situation was to create more jobs. She
announced that President Jonathan would
today November 17th launch the 4th edition of
the You Win youth empowerment programme.
“To show how serious government is about
job creation, President Jonathan will
tomorrow, (Monday) November 17 launch
the 4th edition of YouWin to support
another 1,500 entrepreneurs along with a
private equity fund for entrepreneurs.
That is an expression of government’s
commitment and seriousness to job
creation.”
Dr Okonjo-Iweala said the reduction in price of
the oil prices in the international market may
continue but that government would do
everything possible to make sure Nigeria is not
adversely affected.
She said from the $4.1bn (N656bn) in the
Excess Crude Account, the government would
be withdrawing $2bn (N320bn) between now
and the end of this year to take care of critical
expenditure.
“We will work in such a way that we won’t
deplete the ECA because we have to leave
something for next year but we might go
to tap about a half of it ($2bn) or slightly
less than half to be able to meet
expenditures that are crystalizing at the
moment that we need to make.” she said
She also stated that infrastructural expenditure
would still continue as the economy can only
improve when infrastructural development is in
place.

‘Preach Gospel The Modern Way To Retain Youth’

The Managing Director of the Graphic
Communications Group Limited, Mr Kenneth
Ashigbey, has challenged the clergy in the
Catholic Church to change their way of
preaching in order to attract and retain the
youth in the church.
“The young people of today want to be heard
and be part of the conversation. So if you insist
on only talking to them, you will lose them. So,
it is important that the two-way communication
channels are opened,” he stressed.
Mr Ashigbey also suggested that the church
should open a channel for the congregation for
its feedback.
Trainer of trainers’ seminar
Mr Ashigbey threw the challenge last Wednesday
when he delivered a lecture on the topic, “The
new evangelisation and social communications”
at a day’s seminar organised by the Accra
Archdiocese of the church to fashion out ways of
sustaining and bringing the word to the
doorsteps of people, through evangelisation.
The seminar, attended by representatives of all
the six deaneries in the archdiocese, was
designed as a trainer of trainers’ seminar where
the participants are expected to replicate the
seminar at their respective deanery, parish and
society levels.
The seminar, held on the theme, “The new
evangelisation for the transmission of the
Christian faith in the Catholic Archdiocese of
Accra,” was a follow-up to the Second National
Pastoral Congress of the Catholic Church in
Ghana held in Sunyani in August this year.
Modern methods
Mr Ashigbey advised the clergy to adopt modern
ways of communications such as the use of
social media to meet the needs of their
congregations.
He noted that the old ways of teaching the word
of God was failing because of the top-down
communication model and said, “We cannot
continue throwing our messages at our
congregations, the Gospel can’t be defined only
by what the priest has for the congregation.
Interactivity is key”.
Mr Ashigbey expressed concern that Christianity,
especially the Catholic faith, was under threat
and there was the need to intensify
evangelisation by taking advantage of the social
media to preach the word of God.
Population dynamics
A lecturer at the University of Cape Coast,
Professor Kofi Awusabo-Asare, who spoke on
“The new evangelisation and Ghana’s religious’
population dynamics” with particular reference
to the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, challenged
the Catholic Church to expand its evangelisation
to new settlements in the region.
He said statistics of the population of the
Greater Accra Region showed that the old
settlement areas such as Adabraka, Osu, James
Town, among others, were decreasing drastically
because most of the people in those areas were
resettling in new developing areas.
Prof. Awusabo-Asare said the membership of
the church was dwindling and therefore asked
the leadership of the church to get all hands on
deck to reverse the trend.
New evangelisation
Speaking on the theme, the Metropolitan
Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Charles Gabriel
Palmer-Buckle, explained that the new
evangelisation was not a new teaching by the
church, but was designed for those who had not
yet heard of the word of God, as well as those
who had relapsed in their Christian faith.

Gospel Singers Must Not Focus On Entertainment

The Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Kwaku
Asante, Outgoing Presiding Bishop of Methodist
Church, Ghana, has said Church Choirs and
gospel musicians should win souls for Christ
with their songs instead of providing mere
entertainment.
“There is the need for you to realize that your
primary duty in singing is not for entertainment
so let what you sing expose your listeners to the
wide range of biblical image and story, backed
by the power that spirit imparts for the holistic
redemption of our faith communities, ”he said.
He was speaking at the official opening of the
15th Biennial National Delegates Conference of
the Association of Methodist Church Choirs,
Ghana (GHAMECC) at Cape Coast, Most Rev.
Asante also challenged hymn and song
composers to write songs that built faith and
trust in God.
Most Rev. Asante said singing, like preaching,
was a powerful tool, which imparted the word of
God to Christians and non-believers for effective
Christian formation and growth.
The five-day conference, which also marks the
40th Anniversary of the Association, is on the
theme, “Witnessing to Christ; singing for
effective Christian formation”. It is being
attended by more than 2,000 delegates from
Methodist Churches nationwide.
The formation of Methodist Church choirs began
many years before 1974, but it was in April of
the year that the Association was established by
a group of dedicated choristers.
The objective was to bring all Methodist Choirs
on a common platform for the discussion and
prosecution of issues of common interest. It was
also to bring uniformity, correctness in singing,
among others.
Most Rev. Asante said the early Methodists, led
by John and Charles Wesley, were identified as
people of God through singing, consequently,
the lyrical heritage of Methodism was partly
grounded on the recognition of congregational
singing as a potent means of teaching faith.
He said Methodist choristers were at the
forefront of the Church’s discipleship process,
teaching and nurturing of faith through the
medium of music and, therefore, urged them to
intentionally prepare themselves as a fitting
instrument.
The Central Regional Minster, Mr. Aquinas
Tawiah, said the failure of choristers to
propagate the gospel had dire consequences
and urged them to work hard to eschew
negative tendencies.
Mr Quansah commended the Methodist Church
for its contribution towards the development of
education, health, and other areas.
Prof. Yaw Sekyi-Baidoo, National Chairman of
GHAMECC, paid glowing tributes to the founding
members and all those who had contributed to
the welfare of the association since its
establishment.
He said challenges facing the association
included the unavailability of musicians,
especially organists, to help choirs in rural areas,
lack of budgetary support for implementation of
commendable suggestions and the depletion of
members due to old age.
He, therefore, and appealed for support to solve
the problems.
Prof. Sekyi-Baidoo announced that the
association planned to publish a new hymnbook
of Ghanaian composers to meet the Ghanaian
local taste and also step up dialogues on the
placement, formation, training and management
of junior choirs to replenish the senior choir.

Cameroon's army faces Boko Haram on Nigerian border

Amchide - A deathly silence hangs over the
once lively trading town of Amchide in the far
north of Cameroon, abandoned to the army
by residents terrified of raids by extremists,
Boko Haram.
After several attacks in the past year by the
armed extremists from Nigeria, just across the
western border, the vast majority of residents
have fled.
Houses of clay and brick stand abandoned
with nobody to cook in the courtyards, while
colourful robes and children's laughter are
things of the past.
The sole remaining human presence is a
military one, dug in about 800 metres (875
yards) from the frontier and the lethal threat
on the other side.
"Before, this was a bustling town, with crowds.
Chadians, Cameroonians and Nigerians came
here and traded in all kinds of things," said
Abba, who comes from a nearby village.
Many people in Amchide ran the risk of
atrocities and kidnapping by Boko Haram for
months, but the situation further worsened
when the Islamists in September overran
Banki, the extension of their town on to
Nigerian territory.
'Firing almost every day'
Boko Haram fighters then stepped up bloody
raids inside Cameroon, where they slit the
throats of Christians and Muslims alike. The
movement also launched attacks from their
positions in Nigeria.
"There is firing almost every day," an officer in
Cameroon's elite military Rapid Intervention
Battalion (BIR by its French initials) told AFP at
the scene, asking not to be named for security
reasons.
Several hundred metres (yards) from their
main base, dozens of soldiers on high alert
manned a forward post, some keeping a
lookout behind piled sandbags. Others were
poised to ambush intruders, wary of the
surrounding savannah grass and trees that
offer cover to Boko Haram forces.
On October 15, the Nigerian movement, which
has frequently slaughtered students in its
opposition to Western-style education, carried
out an assault of "unprecedented scale"
against Cameroon's army, said Major Leopold
Nlate Ebale, chief of operations in the border
zone.

Haram attacks
Coming out of Banki, the extremisys struck at
the military base with heavy artillery, while a
suicide bomber drove a car loaded with
explosives through Amchide. The car blew up
on the outskirts of the base and was followed
by an armoured vehicle and a pick-up truck,
which were both "neutralised", Ebale added.
The fighting that ensued lasted for two days.
The burned-out wrecks of the armoured
vehicle and one of the others have been left
standing by the entrance to the military base.
During the clashes, 107 members of Boko
Haram were killed, together with 86 civilians
and eight soldiers of the BIR, according to
official figures that cannot be independently
confirmed.
Military operations to "clean up" Amchide are
a task rendered harder by the complexities of
the border. "When you go into a house by a
door in Cameroon, you can come out on the
Nigerian side," where Islamists have many
hiding places, an official said.
They're like ghosts
"Boko Haram (fighters) are unpredictable.
They're like ghosts," one soldier said.
Cameroon's army states that in the absence of
"a right of pursuit" into neighbouring
countries, it will never carry out ground attacks
on Nigerian territory. However, several officers
agreed that "for protection in the event of
aggression", they had the right to fire shells
across the border.
The BIR responded to a Boko Haram attack
last Monday by firing 36 shells, one of the
officers said.
In villages of the district, people still try to live
as normally as they can despite the sound of
almost daily blasts and gunfire.
In Kourgui, about 20 kilometres (12 miles)
from Amchide, "we're afraid that Boko Haram
will come this far," elderly villager Oumate
Mohamed said, sitting in the shade of a large
tree.
In recent weeks, "many residents went
through here, they were fleeing violence"
closer to the border, Mohamed explained.
Some decided to stop at Kourgui, but most
headed on towards towns deeper into
Cameroon.
In the arid border territory where growing
millet and cotton are the main tasks for poor
local people, the end to trade with Nigeria
caused by conflict is a tough blow.
"Everything used to come from Nigeria before,
even petrol, but we can't go there now,"
farmer Baba Chetima said, clad in a long
white robe. "People have nothing left."

a promise to capture territories lost to

reported.
This was addressed by the party chairman,
John Oyegun during a press conference at the
party's national secretariat in Abuja.
The party has ruled that the People's
Democratic Party and President, Goodluck
Jonathan have failed the country by allowing
terrorists to control it.
